Identified Clear Roles and Project Areas:
Chairing Committee (Calender for rest of the year & Agenda for meetings) - Andy Dorn
Template for GIN Action Sheet - Rick and Andrew Brinkman
Student Committee - Andrew & Justin
Resource Gathering - Andy & Rebecca
Website Development - Jenny & Rolly
Summary of the where we are at:
- Website not just teacher resources, also have a student engagement
- To create this student engagement have a sub-committee of students who will have direct input into it's design
- Andrew has talked to IT teacher at his school that would be willing to volunteer a group students to test run anything that we can create.
- One way of welcoming new schools to the GIN network could be through the site, have part of the site explaining what GIN is and how to facitate startup groups for GIN
- Rolly has done a lot of good work on starting sites up. Created a portal that links to 3 platform - NING for networking. DROP.IO for resource sharing WIKI - for connecting on Action
GINDO Conference - KNOW CARE ACT Conference:
- Local schools and international schools
- Interest from local indonesian schools to be involved in GIN
- Evolved out of GINDO - projects were very similar to each other. Students were able to discuss projects with each other and discuss how they were appropriate
- Great model for other regions to connect with local schools and local youth to see what they are doing
- Will be another one at Rick's school next fall
Potentially Regional GIN Events:
- Bangkok is thinking of potentially creating a regional event
- Vietnam is thinking of connecting to this
Rick & Andrew suggested we draft up template to sew what other GIN Schools are doing in Asia:
- What have GIN groups done and will be doing?
- Keep master data base for GIN groups to cross reference
all members of steering committee discuss possible platforms for sharing resources with respective IT support in schools + independent research. Whilst continuing to collect resources from colleagues.
EARCOS intern proposal (for site manager who will sustain the site once it is up and running) will be pursued by Justin (with WAB support)
The formation of a Student Body (parallel steering committee) to be discussed further (Justin and Andrew?)
Kelly ann (WAB) is developing a teacher event. To be held at WAB sometime in the future.
